077 – The Everyday Life Collector

The Everyday Life Collector
2009
An exhibition with Richard Lamb, South Kensington, London
A project by Max Lamb and Apartamento Magazine

Richard Lamb has been collecting British studio pottery and 20th Century ceramics for nearly 15 years purely as a hobby. His collection has slowly accumulated during weekly visits to car-boot sales, flea markets, charity shops and the occasional antiques market. The exhibition will present a curated selection of studio pottery pieces from Cornwall and London created during the 1960s through to the early 1990s. The studio potteries represented in the exhibition include Troika, Tremaen, Leaper, Carn, Tintagel, Tremar and Celtic from Cornwall, Briglin Pottery from London, and Bernard Rooke from Suffolk. In addition there will also be a collection of objects hand carved and turned from Serpentine, a stone found only on the Lizard peninsula in South West Cornwall.

Richard Lamb: The Everyday Life Collector will be both an exhibition and shop, presenting one man’s passion for hand-made studio pottery and his commitment to collecting. Most of 300 pieces will be available for purchase but there will also be a few important pieces, significant to Richard’s collection, that will simply be for exhibition purposes.
